Judge Bruce E. Hampton is the Division C judge of the 3rd Judicial District in Louisiana. He was elected to this position on November 3, 2018.
Judge Hampton graduated from Louisiana Tech University (B.S. Finance, cum laude 1978); Tulane University School of Law, (Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude 1981); and Southern Methodist University School of Law (LLM. in Taxation) 1989).
Prior to taking office on December 7, 2018, he practiced law in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas for 37 years. He established a private practice in Farmerville in 1991 and practiced general civil law until elected. During that time, he also served 9 years for the 3rd Judicial District Indigent Defender’s Board and 18 years as an Assistant District Attorney for the 3rd Judicial District handling felonies, juvenile, misdemeanors and serving as legal advisor for the Union Parish Police Jury.
